Tim Tebow loves Jesus
I read the headline of “Will Tim Tebow’s Pro-Life Bowl Ad Kill His Potential as an Endorser?” on AdAge.com and thought…
Am I missing something here?
The little bru-ha-ha over a Focus on The Family-funded ad that’s planned to run on CBS during the Super Bowl is predictable. I’m not addressing the content of the ad – CBS can do what it wants, doesn’t mean you and I have to watch it.
But the questions over the potential impact of Tebow’s ad on his future in product endorsements are a bit laughable.
You think Tebow actually cares?
Of course not. Tebow’s ad prospects aren’t 100% about him. They’re about Him.
Company: “We need a good wholesome athlete for product x, who should we get?”
Company gal: “Tiger Woods?”
Company guy: “Where have you been? No… A wholesome, All-American type, loves his mom, Jesus, loves everybody…”
Company gal: “Gee… I have no idea.”
No matter where in the NFL Tebow ends up, someone will pay him to endorse some products. Even if he never becomes a true star.
He’s a big name. His college football career bears that out.
And he loves Jesus.
So no, he won’t be doing any Bud Light or bikini babe commercials anytime soon. But there are plenty of brands he can represent.
Strike now Tim, while the spotlight shines bright on your accomplishments and character.
